Christmas part Duex

My parents had sent a box of presents from California to my office, but due to weather issues UPS couldn't deliver it on time. Monday night we had another cozy Christmas opening gifts from California.

Christmas on Queen Anne

Whew, we made it to Susannah's parents house on Queen Anne. Granted we had to park 3 blocks away, because our car could not make it down the icy roads, but we were there. These are just some pics of the activities. Susannah actually doing manual labor shoveling a trace amount of snow, where was she when I was working on the driveway? Then some of her helping her mom cook Christmas dinner and Aunt Bobbe and Mark setting the table and making sure everyones glass is full.

Almost Last full day of Snow

I took Christmas week off, due to snow. I had to shovel out our driveway and when it was more or less all said and done we had about 10 inches of snow in our front yard. Here are the last pictures before we made a mad dash on Tuesday over to Susannah's parents house on Queen Anne.

Sunday Snowed in Breakfast

Move over Paula I got Susannah. This dish was one Susannah has been cooking for years (or found online this morning). The first thing you do is put some BUTTER in the pan, those Paula Dean fans know all about butter. You are supposed to cut a hole out of the middle, but we only had a heart shaped cookie cutter. Then you put the bread in and an egg in the middle. Once one side is cook you flip it and BAM!!!! you have Birds Nest (Sooz's name) or Toad in the Hole (Marc's Name). Look at it, a very nice breakfast showing your love. As you can see in the final picture it was good enough to tame the hungry beast.

Ps Marc made the coffee otherwise this was all Sooz
Pps Can you tell we are bored yet being home bound. We did make it downtown yesterday for a few hours, but then at 4pm more snow. This morning the news says 4 new inches and now freezing rain I am soooo over this.

Day 4 of Seattle Deep Freeze '08

Dear Diary,
We thought the end of the freeze was near when we could make it to the salt mines on Tuesday and Wednesday. The temperatures had warmed up from 19'degrees to 36'. Then Wednesday night the snow was back and Thursday morning we had another 2 inches before the sun came up. My family and I were worried about where we would find our food since we were almost out of bullets for Ol'Besty and there were no new deer tracks in the fresh snow. Don't worry as you see in picture (1) the great hunter was able to provide for his family finding food and drink at the local grocery store just a mile away. Now we just have to dig in and keep the heat on, watch a movie or two tonight, and play on the computer. I think we might be able to make it, but it will be tough. I know it will be tough, because Seattle isn't prepared for snow like other regions of the nation like Spokane where they get their roads plowed and salted hourly.
Official snow depth at 4:30 at our house 5 inches per my Black and Decker tape measure.

More of a winter wonderland. 1&2)35th Ave SW with NOBODY on it. I stood in the middle of this typically very busy street and took this picture. I wish our street was normally this silent. 3)Is this sign ironic or what, Snow Flocking, wait they are using the real stuff this year. 4)The local Christmas tree stand with their trees blanketed in new snow, how pretty. 5) The local kids are snowboarding down the hill behind the local high school baseball diamond. On some side streets families were sledding and enjoying the hills that are normally busy with traffic

Pictures of a bus chaining up that got stranded, 3 inches at our house at noon and it is still coming down. Finally our cute little house wrapped in the snow.

Winter Storm '08 - 12 hours in....

Dear Diary,
We have been snowed in for 12 hours here in West Seattle. I hold out little hope that anyone will find us. While we still have heat, television, internet connectivity, a microwave, and warm slippers life is hard. We walked a mile each way to the grocery store in 20 something degree weather. Watching the cars spin out and jack knifed buses gives us little hope of escape. Here is Susannah walking back from the grocery store and the buses that couldn't escape the icy grip. Also some guy out in front of our house chaining up to get up the hill. I hope we can make it, if we don't post again you will know we were frozen into our icy tombs.

Snowball

Somebody got the bright idea to throw a snowball at the photographer. This is the one that hit him square in the kisser.

Snowing in Seattle

It is now officially winter here in Seattle. That is right this is the first night of snow. We were at a Christmas party and just watched it fall for a few hours and then decided to drive home. When we got home we took a walk around the block to enjoy the snow.

Marc's Birthday Gift

My 11th annual 21st Birthday was last week so we had birthday activities here in the Nelson household. With our friends we went out to Jillians and played pool, video games, and shook our groove thang. The next day we went to Susannah's folks house for dinner and presents. Susannah was so excited that she FINALLY had kept a secret and was going to surprise me with my gift. Not only did she keep a secret, but she organized the whole surprise in asking everyone to help out to make it one great family gift. All I will say is I WAS SURPRISED!! It was a 32 inch flat screen tv which is now in our living room. ALL I had to do was take down the old armoire, build a new one from IKEA and then hook up the tv. Literally three hours later here are the results.

There were 3 Candy Stores in Old Town Sacramento and yes we went in them all. My favorite picture is that of Susannah holding a ticket below allowing her 1 free piece of candy. Of course I gave her my ticket, because we all know she can't eat just one.

Here are some more candy pics

I love these pictures Susannah will kill me, but ohh well.
